Port Vale to be promoted?
10 September, 2020

Having been edged out by, eventual play-off winners, Northampton and also Colchester United by just 0.03 points per game in the fight for a playoff spot, the club is now ready to embark on a new campaign.

Coming into the new season it seems that continuity is key at Vale Park. John Askey has proven to be an astute manager after a somewhat troublesome start to his spell at the club. The results have been steadily improving after he took over in February 2019, partly caused by a string of quality players brought in during the 2019 summer window. Now many of the Valiants’ supporters are clearly hopeful of promotion to English football’s third tier.

The local manager has preferred playing a settled starting 11. Partly because of this Port Vale were very hard to beat, losing only 8 of their 37 League 2 matches, the 2nd fewest in League 2 last year.

When the season was brought to a premature end, Port Vale was on a run of seven unbeaten matches. If the global pandemic had not put an end to proceedings, it does not seem unlikely that Port Vale would have been able to ride the momentum to grab a playoff spot.

The focus going forward must surely be on winning a few more of the matches that ended as draws in the recent past. If Port Vale are able to achieve this, they have rather good chances of sneaking into the top three.

We are unable to launch a tip for Port Vale to achieve promotion, due to the fact that our main partner Pinnacle does not have any odds for this market. However several bookmakers like bet365 and Willhill, offers odds of 10/3 and we do not think this a bad price at all.

16/1 is available with the same betting companies if you want to take it a step further and bet them to win League 2.

We are unsure if we would take this prices, but it is the prices we like the best for these markets.
